Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band that was formed in 1984. The band is known for their raw, aggressive sound and lyrics that often deal with themes of death, suicide, and the occult.
Mayhem has undergone numerous lineup changes over the years, with frontman Dead (Per Yngve Ohlin) and guitarist Euronymous (Øystein Aarseth) being two of the most well-known members. Tragically, both of these members passed away in the 1990s – Dead by suicide and Euronymous by murder – adding to the band's already dark reputation.
Despite these setbacks, Mayhem has continued to release music and tour over the years, becoming one of the most influential and controversial bands in the black metal scene. Some of their most notable releases include "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas," "Chaos AD," and "Esoteric Warfare."
