To be Rudol'f Nureev by Stefano Donno

Rudolf Nureyev was a Russian dancer and choreographer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest ballet dancers of all time. He was born in 1938 in Irkutsk, Siberia, and began studying dance at a young age. In 1958, he joined the Kirov Ballet in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) and quickly rose to prominence as a soloist. In 1961, Nureyev defected from the Soviet Union while the company was on tour in Paris, causing an international sensation.

After defecting, Nureyev became a star dancer with the Royal Ballet in London and later joined the Paris Opera Ballet as a principal dancer. He also toured extensively as a guest artist with various ballet companies around the world. Nureyev was known for his technical mastery, explosive energy, and compelling stage presence. He was also a skilled choreographer and created many successful ballets throughout his career.

Nureyev's personal life was often shrouded in mystery and controversy. He was known for his flamboyant personality and was rumored to have had numerous romantic relationships with both men and women. Nureyev died of AIDS-related complications in 1993 at the age of 54. Despite his controversial personal life, his talent and influence as a dancer have made him a enduring cultural icon.
